BEFORE YOU BUY

Will you wear it on an ordinary Tuesday?

A wishlist can be aspirational. Your wardrobe needs to work in your actual life. These questions help bridge the two.

Where is it going?

Name an occasion in your real calendar, not an imagined one. Can you wear the piece to work, to dinner, or on the weekend without needing to buy several other things first?

What will it ask of you?

Check care instructions, fabric composition, fit notes, and return conditions. A delicate fabric might be exactly what you want—or an extra chore you know you will avoid.

Would you still want it without the discount?

A lower price is useful when the item was a good choice to begin with. Give yourself time to consider whether you like the piece or simply like the deal.

Does it add something?

An item can earn its place by solving a practical gap or simply making you happy to get dressed. What matters is knowing why you want it.
